About Sarah Andrews

Sarah Andrews is a genuinely new voice in the international interiors field.

Starting professional life as a spatial scientist, and with further academic studies in design, her unusual background gives her a unique approach to the subject. She turns her curious and analytical eye to interiors, dissecting them to discover what does — and doesn't — work, and has the ability and experience to transform them.

She first came to international attention with Captains Rest, her shack on the west coast of Tasmania — named by Escape Magazine as Australia's Most Special Stay (2023) and realestate.com.au as Tasmania's Most Famous Airbnb (2024). Its success launched her teaching career. After many requests from people for help with their projects, she started consulting, but soon realised she was essentially taking each one through the process she had developed for her own use. She needed to create a system, blending her scientific and design knowledge as well as her experience of hosting, that could be modified and adapted for anyone.

From her system, she has developed two globally acclaimed schools: The Hosting Masterclass — the world's leading education programme for Airbnb hosts and micro hoteliers — and Principles of Styling & Storytelling. Together they have been attended by thousands of students across the world, who have gone on to dominate the covers and pages of Australian and international design publications. In a recent Dream Stays edition of Country Style, ten of fifteen houses featured belonged to Sarah's graduates.

Her books — Principles of Style (2021) and The Poetry of Spaces — are published internationally and have found readers across Australia, the UK, the US and beyond. Her podcast, The Hosting Masterclass Podcast, explores her philosophy and creative approach to life and hosting with guests who have shaped her thinking.

Her properties, her schools, her books and her work have gained cult status and worldwide recognition. She lives in a remote part of Tasmania on the sea, but travels globally almost constantly.
